This step-by-step process will guide you through collecting and returning your hair samples in the MRT kit, bringing you one step closer to a solution that works for you. Whether you’re a responder or not, Daniel Alain is by your side every step of the journey.

Steps t0 Collect
Hair Samples

DO NOT use any products with parabens, dandruff shampoo containing zinc pyrithione, or Minoxidil-based products 24 hours before taking the test.

Wash & Disinfect

Wash your hands with warm, soapy water
for 30 seconds.

Disinfect tweezers with the
provided alcohol wipe.

Prep for Collection

Flip the hair collection card to the black side.

Remove the liner from the hair collection card to expose the adhesive strip.

Pluck 6 Hair Samples

Pluck one hair at a time from the thinning area of your scalp. Use a mirror to help pluck six hairs with the provided tweezers. Pluck the entire strand.

If you’re having trouble, ask a friend or family member to help you.

Place the hair samples on the black side of the hair collection card. Ensure the hair bulb is intact.

Secure Hair Samples

Place the hair bulb at the top of the collection card where it reads “PLACE BULB HERE.” Use the adhesive strip to secure the hair. DO NOT place the bulb on the adhesive.

Repeat with at least six plucked hair samples. Trim any excess hair that extends below the adhesive strip.

Close the hair collection card by folding the top of the card down over your hair samples. Fold the bottom panel up to fully enclose the samples.

Seal Hair Samples

Peel off the security label from the specimen ID card.

Seal the hair collection card with the security label.

Fill out your last name, first name, and your date of birth.

07.

Return Prepaid Mailer

Place hair collection card in prepaid mailer.

Seal and send the same day as sample collection

Results

in 7-14 Days

You will receive an email from DA Labs informing you that your results are ready. Once notified, you can log into your DA Labs account to find out if Minoxidil will work for you. 

If you are a responder, you can confidently proceed with Minoxidil treatments.

Though being a non-responder can initially be disappointing, you will save time, money, and be able to focus your efforts on other hair loss solutions. 

IMPORTANT

Hair samples MUST be collected and shipped on the same day.

Ensure your hair sample is not exposed to temperatures above 111 degrees Fahrenheit or 44 degrees Celsius. A temperature indicator is attached to the hair collection card.

If the laboratory is unable to process your sample, you will be notified by email and provided with one free replacement kit to send in a new sample.

The MRT report does not diagnose health conditions or provide medical advice. Consult with a healthcare professional before making major lifestyle changes or if you have concerns about your results.

MRT is a laboratory-developed test. In clinical trials, MRT had a 95.9% accuracy in determining non-responders to Minoxidil-based treatments. 100% of people without the enzyme were correctly diagnosed, with only a 25% chance of a false negative.
